After eight remarkable years of dedicated service, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal has officially bowed out as Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.
The atmosphere at the council secretariat in Obalende was celebratory as friends, associates, political leaders, and well-wishers gathered to honor his exemplary leadership and impactful tenure. The event was highlighted by the commissioning of the remodeled council secretariat and a network of three newly completed arterial roads off Ikoyi Road.
Muri-Okunola Commends Grassroots Leadership
The Guest of Honour, former Lagos State Head of Service and current Principal Secretary to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, commended Atanda-Lawal for his outstanding service and visionary leadership.
Represented by Hon. Kolawole Peregrino, General Manager of the Lagos State Printing Corporation, Muri-Okunola expressed delight at the transformation witnessed in Obalende. He praised President Tinubu for ensuring financial autonomy for local government councils, which he said has enhanced grassroots development and accountability.
He lauded Atanda-Lawal for “serving the people of Ikoyi-Obalende with passion, purpose, and integrity,” and for upholding the values of the All Progressives Congress (APC) throughout his tenure.
Legacy of Service and Impact
In his farewell address, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal reflected on his journey as council chairman, describing it as a period of purposeful service and shared success.
“I have served with sincerity of purpose and commitment to the welfare of our people. Together with my colleagues in the executive, legislative arms, and our diligent staff, we’ve shown that local governments can indeed deliver dividends of democracy,” he said.
Atanda-Lawal reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the incoming administration, urging residents to extend the same cooperation that enabled his achievements.

The Chairman-elect, Hon. Bola Oladunjoye, in her remarks, pledged to run an inclusive and people-centered administration, building on the foundation laid by her predecessor.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, member representing Eti-Osa Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, emphasized the importance of local governance in national development. He commended President Tinubu’s reforms for empowering councils to drive sustainable progress across communities.

The newly commissioned roads — including Oluwa Street and Maitama Sule Street — are expected to ease mobility, attract new economic opportunities, and further enhance the social and commercial vitality of Obalende.
